University of Waikato – Information Strategy – 2003-2004

The University consists of academic schools and supporting services divisions. The Information Services and Technology Division provides an infrastructure to enable the Schools and Divisions to handle information, especially the safe provision of data storage and communications services. It also provides applications for other divisions.

As the University does not fit the normal commercial or government model, it has been necessary to substantially modify the 'normal' approach to developing a strategy to guide the provision of information services. Mike was part of a small team that delivered a 'principle-based' approach. This has led to a cooperative and consultative approach to the ongoing development of the information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure.
